| Customer Reviews: Useful for the traveler going to Vancouver over and again... July 13, 2010 R. Neil Scott (Murfreesboro, TN USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this guide to use duing our one-week family vacation to Vancouver. While I read about various sites, restaurants and hotels, I have to agree with the previous reviewer who stated that there's not a lot in it that you won't find online. However, it would be very useful for those who travel to Vancouver over and again and want to dig deeper into places to go and eat and need to know more about public transportation, local things to do and so forth.
For the several-day visitor, here's my advice: stay downtown as it's walkable and there are lots of shops and restaurants that will keep your interest; plan to spend two days in and around Stanley Park (take the carriage ride, spend an afternoon in the Aquarium, hike around and find the totem poles); take the river launch over and eat lunch and walk around the Public Market out on Granville Island; take the Harbour Ferry tour around the Harbour; and, if it's raining, go to the horse races at Hastings Park. What a wonderful city!
already outdated and info is not above what you can find via internet June 15, 2010 Kimmy in Valencia (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this and What to Do in Downtown Vancouver: Map & Guide. Since this Frommers was the latest version available, I thought the info would be current but many of the attraction prices were already outdated (Ex. the Vancouver Art Gallery is $22.50 not $18; Vancouver Lookout $15 not $13 etc).
I found that most info in the book was readily available online or already discussed in other traveler's trip reports. In this day and age, if you have a smart phone or are internet savvy...I would skip this guide and try another or just go with the Downtown Vancouver map, which was handy.
